The Temple Of Artemis

  • Season: Season 2024

  • Description: Artemis, daughter of Zeus and sister of Apollo, was the patron goddess of Gerasa. Built in 150 AD, this temple dedicated to Artemis was a site of sacrifice. Despite its small size, its Corinthian columns rise impressively from the hilltop, with 11 of the 12 front columns still standing. The inner chamber, originally clad in marble, housed a shrine that likely contained a statue of the goddess.
