- Description: The red-and-green macaw, also known as the green-winged macaw, is a large, mostly-red macaw of the genus Ara (Ara chloropterus). Millions of mammals, birds and alligators have died in recent years in wildfires in Brazil. This year (2024) has been the worse so far on records. Red and Green Macaws can live for up to 60-70 years in the wild and even longer in captivity.
