Description: The Indian peafowl lives mainly on the ground in open forest or on land under cultivation where it forages for berries, grains but also prey on snakes, lizards and small rodents.
However, at dawn, in the misty plains of Wasgamuwa National Park, the male peacocks like to fly up in the air, perch on a tall branch, and sing loudly a very distinctive cat-like song to announce their presence.
