In April 2023, at Wilpattu National Park, I photographed a newborn Toque macaque suckling milk from its mother and almost falling a sleep. They had descended from the canopy to eye level, giving me the rare chance to capture this intimate scene. Titled “Tranquil moment”, the image reflects the baby’s complete dependence on its mother’s care and protection.
