Ruth Araba (45) sits with her severely malnourished son Emma in Bussede, Uganda. Emma, who has cerebral palsy, once received hospital nutrition but was sent home because Ruth could not afford care. Abandoned by family and friends, Ruth faces harsh stigma in her community, where disabilities are often seen as curses. She says, “I love my son, but caring for him alone, without support, can feel unbearable.”
